It's been so long...

It's been so long that I haven't played cricket. Atlast it happened today after almost an year. Thanks for the ppl whom i knew got relocated to Ipswich from London. We gotta gang now, to hang around. Sorry I gotta gang now to hang with.

The hunt for cricket kits began by late noon, there aren't much options for cricket kits in SportsDirect, but still got a bat to play.  Young and energetic team was all set with the new bat and were heading towards bibbway ground.

To our pleasant surprise, few Indians were already showing off their cricketting skills in the ground.  Every one was thinking of a match with them, we knew we were not good not even ok, but still wanted to. The offer came from the other end and we readily accepted it. We knew the results would be bad, but we never knew it will be worse :).

It started with a loss in the toss.  And we never recovered from the loss. They were thrashing boundaries, making huge partnerships which they haven't made in the past 4 months since then they were playing there. The real pity was when we started to bat :).  It was a gettable 75 from 10 overs.

Brisk run chase was all set and I as well opened the innings in the runner side. My fellow partner was not able to face more than 2 balls, and the score was still zero. I scored a run more than him and happily joined him in the bench, where our team was cheering for each and every run. Yup it was just one run @ that point of time. Mean while.. ah one more duck. Are we in trouble ?

We were seriously thinking of double digit would be a much decent target. But one of our fellow men (can speak 6 languages) was chasing his dream. Soon the bench was filled by the team members, but he was trying his level best there in the middle. Ah we crossed 25 runs.. but he was also gone by that time. Now it is just our mighty captain (who lost the toss) to save us. To our surprise, he was getting few runs with the newly bought bat.  Rather than runs, we were feeling the frustration of opponents, probably we would be one of their worst opponents against whom they would have played.

Atlast the captain's knock came to an end @ 38. Oh dear, we have just managed to cross half of their score. There were no celebrations in the opponents camp, rather it was filled with fun in ours. To our surprise, they were happy to play again with us for a reduced 6 overs. History repeats. We lost the toss and obviously the match. It's been so long... Yup it's been so long since we won a cricket match.

lazyness

It was 11 PM in Ipswich on 25th of April when I started to scribble this. Every thing has its birth place and time and yes this for my blog. For ppl who were not related to British Telecom, would have never heard about Ipswich(a town in UK).

I have spent more than 18 months in this town. If not BT, Ipswich would be a perfect country side (athanga namma ooru gramamnu vachukongalen), thanks to BT for bringing in ppl from all over the world to this small town. To be frank, unlike me most of the ppl wont be liking Ipswich, they would have loved to live in London the financial capital of world, will be in a hurry to catch the under ground train and rush to the office. But the case is so different to me, except for Chennai(namma oorunga) I have never lived in a proper metro for which am unused to the fast pace of the metro life and I dunno want to live as well. In short am a lazy slacker.

I still remember when one of my fren in London was surprised to hear that Ipswich has only one Town Center. It wont be fair if I fail to mention about Adastral Park, the place where BT resides. It is one of the busiest place in Ipswich, hundreds of ppl used to commute to adastral park in the morning busy hours in the famous 66 bus series which is also known as indian express. And yes, Ipswich also has a face of busy life in it. Again for me the case was different, there used to be a substitute for every thing and here it is BT bibbway which was another less crowded BT office, a 10 min walk from my place. It was my work place for all these 18 months and yes I used to laugh at all of my frens who used to rush to catch their buses. I was living one of the laziest life of all time in Ipswich till last week.

Everything has its end, and here it comes in the form of Agile. Our Ipswich based team was forced to relocate at Adastral. Not sure how others in the team felt, but I was feeling so bad, worrying on the aspect that it I need to catch the 66 bus, run like hell in the morning to bus stand, wait for the bus and travel for more than 40 mins, all these were my valuable morning sleep. You know how bad it hurts if you need to sacrifice your morning sleep, be it 10 mins or 1 hour. And yes, now its almost a week done and am still exploring of any possibilities to relocate to bibbway.
